You are standing in a near pitch black room. Your fingers are just barely visible at arms length. A constant electrical buzz amplifies the isolation of the mildly cold and odorless room. An occassional shimmer of dim lightning flashes in the unfathomable distance above you.
Suddenly, a voice both masculine and feminine, both young and old, both booming and sotto voce informs you, "You are a prisoner in your own mind full of thoughts, ideas and emotion, but trapped without means of escape. Information is coming in through your eyes, ears, and nose, but your thoughts, YOUR THOUGHTS HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN VOICE!"
"If you choose to escape this prison of the voiceless, you must follow my commands. The first step is to decide what you believe."
"What is something you feel strongly about?"

Now that you have had a thought, the random electric charges have become more regular and you see a red glow that looks vaguely like an exit sign in the distance.
A new, less mysterious voice speaks to you from just behind your left shoulder. "You think <<print $thesis>> is important? That is a mighty bold opinion. In my travels outside this prison I have met many people that would squash your opinion that <<print $thesis>>. You should be prepared to give reasons for your opinion, or the thought police will have you in fetters faster than your feebly firing neurons."
"Though you have taken the first steps in your journey, you must have some good reasons for your opinion. There are many people who would dismiss your words. Prove to them that this would be a mistake."
"Before I let you leave this cell, you must tell me why you believe <<print $thesis>>. Give me one good reason."

You thought perhaps you would finally escape, but the appearance of your cell remains the same, though the buzzing seems a tad quieter.
"I see that you have passed your first challenge, but if you are going to make such a bold statement about <<print $thesis>>, then you should have more than one reason."
"There is no way that your ideas will be accepted by others in this society unless you have at least two reasons."
"Before I will let you go any farther, you must to tell me another reason."
So, what is it? <<textbox "$reason2" "" [[Who Cares]]>>

Now that you have your idea fully formed, a clear light at the end of a hallway comes into view. You start toward it but are halted by the voice.
"People won't even listen to your reasons if you don't make them care. I'm sure you think <<print $thesis>> is important, but other people have their own struggles and priorities. You must make them care. You can give some historical background, use an interesting quote, shock readers with a fact or stat, or tell a short anecdote. You must choose some method of hooking the reader, or you will be trapped in here forever. Show them why you care so much about <<print $thesis>>" Click the "INTRODUCTION" button when finished.
